Proposal P1 · Order Journey Tracer. A customer disputes a shipment. Instead of hours of scrubbing footage, the tracer answers from the warehouse's own records first — cartons reconciled three independent ways, every step graded for how far it can be trusted, camera pointers only where they can be true.

Step 1 · Three carton counts that must agree

deterministic reads of system records
Packed4carton close scans at the bench
Documented4cartons on the shipping documents
Scanned onto truck3loading scans against the manifest
They don't agree — and the disagreement is the answer: carton 4 was packed and documented, but never scanned onto the truck. The customer is right, the shipment left one carton behind — before any footage is watched.

Step 2 · Carton-by-carton manifest

contents, packer and minutes from the scan trail

CTN-2SKU A-1042 ×6 · SKU C-0871 ×2Operator 21713:48–13:55✓ 16:12

CTN-4SKU A-1042 ×2 · SKU B-2210 ×1Operator 21714:02–14:09✕ no loading scan

Serial-tracked items in this order carry a serial fast path: item-level certainty to the second, no footage needed at all.

Step 3 · The journey, graded step by step

trust stated on the face of the output
Placed — data names a real physical spot Inference — suggested, clearly marked Not recorded — and we say so

Picked — bin A-14-3, Aisle A-14 11:45–11:50 Placed

Every pick scan names the exact bin. This is the last step the data can truly place.

🎥 Camera A-East · 11:45–11:50 — offered because this step carries a real location

Packed — carton 4 closed 14:02–14:09 · Operator 217 Area only

Contents, packer and minutes are certain from the scan trail — but no packing-bench location exists in the data, so no camera is pointed. A small scanner-side change (a station identity at packing) would upgrade this step; the pilot can make that case with evidence.

Loaded — carton 4 expected ~16:12 Not recorded

Cartons 1–3 were scanned onto the truck at 16:12–16:13. Carton 4 has no loading scan — that absence is the finding, not a gap to paper over.

🎥 Loading-area footage around 16:20 — suggested from the day's roster, clearly marked as inference, not fact

✦ Step 4 · Drafted reply — a person approves, every time

human decides

Dear customer,

Thank you for raising this. We have completed a full trace of order SO-88213. Our records confirm your report: four cartons were packed and documented for this shipment, but carton 4 (containing 2 × A-1042 and 1 × B-2210) was not scanned onto the vehicle at loading. The shortfall occurred in our loading process, not in transit.

We are dispatching the missing items today at no charge, and reviewing our loading checks so this cannot recur. We apologise for the inconvenience.

honest boundaries

No camera integration — pointers name cameras and minutes, and in this first slice people review the footage themselves. AI marking the right person or carton inside the frames is a possible later step, sized once the camera estate is known. No invented pointers — steps the data cannot place say so plainly. Investigation time: minutes at the desk instead of hours of scrubbing — and where footage is still needed, it starts at the right two minutes instead of the whole afternoon.
